We all know how hectic work can get, especially when things start piling up. It's totally normal to feel a bit overwhelmed, and sometimes, important tasks like running payroll can slip through the cracks. But don't sweat it – you're not alone in this!
What to do if you missed the deadline
If you missed the deadline to run your Payroll – do not process your payroll. While this may seem counter-intuitive, you should instead, reach out to support immediately, as we may be able to extend your payroll deadline.
Important
Humi needs minimum of 3 business days to process payroll by direct deposit.
Now, depending on your specific situation, there are a few ways we can help you get your payroll sorted. Let's look at a few possible scenarios below:
- You are not on 3-day processing schedule, you missed deadline and the payroll is still open - we can provide deadline extension.
- You are not on 3-day processing schedule and ran the payroll right after the deadline. We can change it to direct deposit on pay day if you contact Humi support right away.
- You are on shortened 3-day processing schedule and missed deadline, we can offer direct deposit for a later date.

Will my employees still get paid on time?
Now, onto the burning question: Will your employees still get paid on time?
If we can't extend the deadline for you, unfortunately, direct deposit won't be an option. But don't worry, the system switches to pay by cheque to ensure your employees are paid on time.
Keeping your records accurate
Just a heads-up – when you miss the payroll "run-by" deadline, Humi automatically changes your listed payout method from direct deposit to pay by cheque for that pay period.
Where to find your Payroll deadline in Humi
The deadline to run payroll is typically four business days prior to payday (though some companies may have a 3-day processing window) and before 4:30 pm EST.
You can always check the exact date by going to Payroll and clicking into the payroll period. You'll see payroll run by date and time under the Payroll date.
If you're late, the State will have a red Late label.
About Reimbursements & Remittances
If you missed the Payroll deadline, Humi will remit your source deductions after you Complete & Pay.
Humi can only remit the source deductions if the late payroll is before your remittance schedule.
When reimbursements are late, they will be configured to be paid by cheque and the employer is responsible for writing the cheque.
