Deny a Time Off request

Have more questions? Submit a request

We've streamlined the "Time Off" process to save time, approve requests faster and allow you to manage "Time Off" requests within the app effectively.

We know that you may not be able to approve every "Time Off" request, so if you need to deny a "Time Off" request, you can leave a comment and provide a reason for denying the request.

This function allows for a more personal and empathetic response, or if you've denied the request because of a coverage issue, you can suggest alternate dates that could be approved instead.

If you leave a comment when you deny a request, it will be included in the employee's notification email.

Additionally, the employee can't edit the request after it's denied, so they'll need to create a new "Time Off" request instead. The denied request will be kept on their profile for record-keeping purposes.

Admins - "Force Deny" a request

Sometimes "Time Off" approval flows include multiple people who must approve the request before it's finalized. However, as an admin, you're able to "Force Deny" any employee "Time Off" requests and bypass these additional approvals.

Some scenarios where you might need to use this option are if a "Time Off" request is made while an approver is on vacation or if any outdated requests are sitting in the system.

How to force deny a request:force-deny.png

  1. In "Time Off" under the "Requests" tab, click on the "pending" request.
  2. You'll be directed to the "View Request" page. From here, click on the three dots in the top right corner and select "Force Deny" from the dropdown options.
  3. You will get a warning pop-up as shown below:
