With the Time Clock enabled in the Time Tracking module, employees can easily clock in and out, giving you an accurate record of their start and end times.

This feature includes tools to improve your workflow, including safeguards against overlapping entries, seamless integration with Payroll, and customizable rounding rules to streamline data entry.

How to Enable the Time Clock

  1. In Time Tracking, navigate to the Settings tab.
  2. In the first section, General Settings, click Edit.
  3. Under the Preferences heading, select the preferred method for tracking time as: "Track by setting start and end times or using the timer."
  4. Click Save.

The time clock is enabled, and your employees will now see it available on their Humi homepage like this: Screenshot 2024-12-03 at 12.35.36 PM.png

Once the Time Clock is enabled, employees must clock in and out to track their start and end times.

Any entries submitted before the feature was turned on will remain empty in the start and end time fields.

The Time Clock integrates smoothly with Payroll, but double-checking your settings’s always a good idea. If you’re using Payroll Integration, take a look at this article to learn how to add additional hour types to your time clock settings.

Worried about Overlapping Entries or Employees Forgetting to Clock Out?

Don't be! We've eliminated the guesswork by automatically preventing any overlaps so your records will be accurate and hassle-free.

Time entries will be automatically clocked out after 72 hours, and the employee will receive an email notification prompting them to review and edit the timesheet.

Rounding Rules

Rounding rules are turned off by default, so times are recorded exactly as entered.

However, once you enable rounding, it will apply to all employees using Time Tracking, affecting both time clock submissions and manually entered entries.

You can choose from two options:

  1. Round to the nearest (5, 10, or 15-minute increment): This option rounds up and down, bringing the time to the closest increment.
  2. Round up to the nearest (5, 10, or 15-minute increment): This setting always rounds the time up to the next closest increment.

The default is to round up to the nearest 15 minutes, but you can adjust it to suit your team’s needs.

Enabling the Time Clock is an easy way to ensure accurate pay and keep track of your team’s hours. The Time Tracking Payroll integration reduces the chances of errors and makes the process more efficient.

With customizable options like rounding rules and adding different hour types you can tailor it to your specific needs.

FAQs

How does Humi Handle Unpaid Breaks?

If your team takes unpaid breaks, they must log them as a separate entry or include them in an optional note. Remember that notes won’t sync to Payroll, so if you're using Payroll integration, the breaks need to be entered separately.

What Happens If an Employee Forgets to Clock Out?

No worries! If someone forgets to clock out, the system will automatically stop the timer after 72 hours. This time limit is flexible, and we’re open to feedback to adjust it if needed. Once the timer stops, the employee gets a notification to review and edit their entry.

When Do Rounding Rules Apply, and How Do They Work?
Rounding rules apply across the board for manual and timer—based entries. The timesheet reflects the rounded values for employees and admins; we don’t keep the original times. For example, if rounding is set to “Round up to the nearest 15 minutes,” clocking in at 9:08 a.m. and out at 4:58 p.m. will show as 9:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the timesheet.
Is Time Tracking Available on the Mobile App?

Not yet, but Humi’s homepage is fully responsive, so you can still manage Time Tracking on your mobile device through your browser.
