Importing Data

Importing Time Off data into Humi can be done using three helpful import tools:

  • Requests Importer
  • Balances Importer
  • Adjustments Importer

The Requests Importer is usually used only once, during implementation, to get your existing data set up in Humi.

The Balances Importer is used when you'd like to hard reset balances in bulk at a certain point in time, for example at year end if you'd like to reset everyone's balance to zero (but don't want to use our automatic carryover cap feature to do so).

The Adjustments Importer is often used for importing bonus accruals for Time In Lieu, or for easily giving other types of bonus accruals for many employees at once.

Importing Requests

To begin, navigate to the Reporting module. Click on the Data Import tab, then click on the "Time Off Requests" importer.

Next, download our handy template, which includes the following columns:

  • Required Fields: Email, Date From, Date To, Counts As (Hours / Days),
  • Optional: Description, Approver, Approval date
  • If no description is provided: We import no description
  • If no approver is provided: We assume approver is primary account admin
  • If no approval date is provided: We assume approval date is today
Note that for each of these importers, the imports are done for one Time Off Type at a time. As a result, the units are assumed to be in the same units as the Time Off Type (hours / days).
Note that only approved requests can be imported. We don't support importing denied or pending requests. If you don't supply approval information, we assume it is the admin who is approving, and the date is set to 'today'.

For the requests importer, we include a single "sample" row in the downloaded template:

  • john.smith@gmail.com
  • 01/01/2020
  • 03/01/2020
  • Counts as 3 days
  • Description: "Sample request"
  • Leave approver and approval date blank

Be careful of the date format - the importer will only accept dd/mm/yyyy or yyyy/mm/dd

Once you've added your requests to the import csv, import it back into the system by following the prompts you see on your screen.

Finally, click submit to begin processing. You'll receive an email once the import is complete.

Importing Balances

To begin, navigate to the Reporting module, click on the Data Import tab and then click on the "Time Off Balances" importer.

Next, download our handy template, which includes the following columns:

  • Email, Balance (Days/Hours), As-of date, Description (optional)
  • If no description is provided: We import no description.
  • If a description is provided: It will show up in the adjustment that is made on the Transactions Log, on employee Time Off Profiles.
Note that for each of these importers, the imports are done for one Time Off Type at a time. As a result, the units are assumed to be in the same units as the Time Off Type (hours / days).

For the balances importer, we include a single "sample" row in the downloaded template:

  • today's date pre-filled in the 'as of date' column
  • each employee's email pre-filled in the email column
  • blank (nothing) pre-filled as the 'balance' for the balances importer

Be careful of the date format - the importer will only accept dd/mm/yyyy or yyyy/mm/dd.

Once you've added your desired balances to the import csv, import it back into the system by following the prompts you see on your screen.

Finally, click submit to begin processing. You'll receive an email once the import is complete.

You will see the results show up as manual adjustments added to the Transactions Logs for each employee, for whom a balance was imported.

Importing Adjustments

To begin, navigate to the Reporting module, click on the Data Import tab and  click on the "Time Off Adjustments" importer.

Next, download our handy template, which includes the following columns:

  • Email, Adjustment (+ or - Days/Hours), As-of date, Description (optional)
  • If no description is provided: We import no description.
  • If a description is provided: It will show up in the adjustment that is made on the Transactions Log, on employee Time Off Profiles.
Note that for each of these importers, the imports are done for one Time Off Type at a time. As a result, the units are assumed to be in the same units as the Time Off Type (hours / days).

For the balances importer, we include a single "sample" row in the downloaded template:

  • today's date pre-filled in the 'as of date' column
  • each employee's email pre-filled in the email column

Be careful of the date format - the importer will only accept dd/mm/yyyy or yyyy/mm/dd.

Once you've added your desired adjustments to the import csv, import it back into the system by following the prompts you see on your screen.

Finally, click submit to begin processing. You'll receive an email once the import is complete.

You will see the results show up as manual adjustments added to the Transactions Logs for each employee, for whom an adjustment was imported.
