How do holidays affect your payroll? What's a payroll "run-by" date?

Since banks are closed on statutory holidays, typically, Humi will adjust your payroll "run-by" date to align with this change. Knowing your payroll "run-by" date ensures you won't miss your payroll deadline.

Your Run By Date Could Change

If your payday falls on a holiday, both the payday and the payroll "run-by" deadline may be shifted up by one business day.

 

How to Find Your Payroll "Run By" Date

You can locate your payroll run-by date in two spots within the Payroll module.

  1. In Payroll, you'll see the run-by date under the "Run by" column. Screenshot 2025-01-15 at 2.19.26 PM.png
  2. When you click into the payroll, just below the payroll date, you'll find the payroll run-by date again. Screenshot 2025-01-15 at 2.19.45 PM.png 

Always Refer to the Run By Date

The payroll run-by date is your most reliable reference for knowing exactly when to process payroll to ensure it's always completed on time.

Holiday Paydays: What Happens to Your Run-By Date?

If your payday falls on a holiday, both your payday and the payroll "run-by" date will likely shift up by one business day.

For example, if your payday is set for Good Friday, your run-by date will move up by a business day, and your payday will be adjusted to the day before Good Friday (Thursday).
